Avid Apricot is a beautiful, warm, peach paint color and one of my favorites! It evokes joyful, warm summer afternoons, the kind you see in paintings by French Impressionists like Claude Monet.
The first time I saw this color was in my web designer’s office during a Zoom video call. I was so fixated on the paint color I could hardly think! If you are looking for an amazing web designer, check out Karima Creative! Karima Neghmouche has an incredible sense of color and design.
This is a warm and friendly color to use in a bedroom, office, or other accent room for an interior. Although I consider it a relatively “fresh” color, It’s muted enough to look sophisticated and has enough saturation for the color to look rich. It’s the kind of room color that makes a house a home.
It is crisp, clean, and lovely and can work throughout many different spaces in a home.

What is the Sherwin-Williams Avid Apricot LRV?
Avid Apricot (sample) has an LRV of 62, making it a beautiful saturated peach paint color. LRV stands for Light Reflectance Value, which measures how light (LRV=100) or dark (LRV=0) a color is.
With an LRV of 62, it is light-reflecting, so it looks nice and bright, even though it is fairly muted. I love balancing it with whites as the ceiling, trim, and door colors so that it doesn’t look too overwhelming with its saturation.
What are the SW Avid Apricot undertones?
SW Avid Apricot is a peach paint color with orange undertones muted with grays and lightened with white. This keeps the color warm but still versatile.
Is SW Apricot warm or cool?
Avid Apricot is decidedly warm. This doesn’t mean you should exclusively pair it with other warm colors. We like to balance cool and warm colors. It’s nice to pair with cool blues and grays, warm greens and warm blues.
Sample SW Avid Apricot
We always recommend that you test paint colors (article) in your home because lighting can completely change a color, both on interiors and exteriors.
In the old days, this meant we painted a large poster board with sample pots and a huge mess.
Now we have a better way to test paint, with Samplize Peel-and-Stick samples!
- Samples pre-painted with 2 coats of real paint from the manufacturer.
- Large 9” x 14” samples to see the color better in the lighting.
- Delivered overnight
- Colors are accurate
- Less expensive than painting a large poster board with sample pots
- No mess, and no toxic paint to dispose of
I use these in my color consulting practice for exact results. Discover Samplize peel-and-stick paint samples and sample Sherwin-Williams Avid Apricot (Sample) via the link below.
When should I use SW Avid Apricot?
Is Avid Apricot good for North-facing rooms?
Vivid Apricot is a perfect color to brighten a shady room or a North-Facing room. But one of the best things about Avid Apricot is that it can also work well in just about any kind of light.
It looks great in North—and South-facing rooms and has enough saturation to flex in rooms with constantly changing light, such as those with East and West exposures.
This color is fairly fresh, so I would avoid using it in rooms with muted finishes such as travertine, granite, and other earthy finishes.
Is SW Avid Apricot a good office color?
Avid Apricot is a stunning office color and an attractive video conference background color. It coordinates with a variety of complementary colors, furniture, and decor.
Note how the color is cut two-thirds up the wall and balanced with white. It is pretty when contrasted with warm wood, a rich leather sofa, and a neutral carpet (such as Karima’s office below).
Is SW Avid Apricot a good bedroom or nursery color?
This color is a beautiful bedroom color for adults, or children’s playrooms and bedrooms. We use it as an accent wall behind a crib in the nursery below.
Is SW Avid Apricot a good whole house color?
Avid Apricot is NOT a good option for a foundational whole-house paint color (Article). It simply has too much saturation, and would be limiting as you pick decor. Although it’s welcoming, warm, and cozy for a single room, I think that it would give me a headache as a single color in a whole house.
Can I use SW Avid Apricot as exterior paint?
The best exterior application for SW Avid Apricot is as an exterior front door. It would look fantastic with houses that have white, dark blue, or green siding. Make sure that you test carefully! Below is a photo of an exterior front door painted with another (much darker, pinker) peach paint color, SW Quite Coral.
What Are the Best Benjamin Moore Avid Apricot Coordinating Colors?
Avid Apricot looks fantastic with muted blues, warm mid-toned greens, and crisp whites to balance the saturation of the color. Mid-toned teals are very pretty complements to Avid Apricot.
You can use Avid Apricot as an accent wall with rooms painted in whites and light neutrals, such as SW Mortar (Color review article), SW City Loft (sample), SW Pearly White (Color review article), or SW Origami White (sample). LIght neutrals should have a much higher LRV than Avid Apricot.
We often see this color in carpeted rooms and prefer carpets with similar colors to SW Skyline Steel, SW Repose Gray, and SW Wool Skein. These are basically warm grays and beiges with green undertones.
What are the Best Trim and Ceiling Colors For SW Avid Apricot Interiors?
Because this color is colorful and fresh, it works best with crisp and off-white colors such as SW Extra White (Color review article), SW Pure White (Color review article), and SW Greek Villa (Color review article). Alabaster might be a touch too creamy, but test to be sure.
I would not use SW Avid Apricot is too crisp and fresh to use with a very creamy trim. I would avoid any creamy white trim color darker than Alabaster because of the low contrast and competing yellow tones in the creamy color.
What is the easiest way to sample SW Avid Apricot?
You should always sample and test your paint colors, but it’s especially important with a paint like Avid Apricot that can look different from room to room depending on the natural light.
The easiest way to sample Avid Apricot (Sample) (and any paint color for that matter) is via SAMPLIZE (Sample). Their peel-and-stick paint samples are easy to use and true to color.
There is no mess, and the cost is less expensive than purchasing a sample and a white poster board. Since you don’t need to dispose of the paint, it’s also environmentally friendly!

Sherwin-Williams Persimmon vs. Sherwin-Williams Avid Apricot
